This book offers a detailed description of environmental conditions and their effects on native stream species in Hawaii. The author reports on the results of tolerance testing of native and exotic species to elevated temperatures. Tests on growth of post-larval gobies under different fluctuating thermal regimes are also included. The author concludes that where future channel modification cannot be avoided, the length of channelized sections should be minimized, with natural sections interspersed between them along the stream's length.
