From a review: although this book was written decades ago, everything in it is even more applicable today. The author examines masculinity and how men see themselves. Where do we find strength? How do we evaluate our conduct? What are the socioeconomic factors that affect us? Most importantly; how is our role in society changing and what does this mean for our worldview? The formula for "manliness" used to be simple: provide for the family, be a gentleman, and don't be a wuss. That is no longer the case and The New Male's primary purpose is not to provide a new formula, but to make us aware that we are continuing to follow the old one when we should instead begin to adapt to a new world.
