With a strong emphasis on ethics, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION: AN ACTION ORIENTATION, Sixth Edition, introduces the theories and scholarly literature of the field. In addition, it increases students' chances of being effective by developing practical skills such as personal management, communication, delegation, motivation, and decision making. "I really like this text for its comprehensiveness, 'down-to-earth' examples of concepts, plus website references and tips. I have used it three semesters and really enjoy reading it each semester."
"Succinct coverage of a potentially voluminous topic. Well-written and a solid focus on the introductory level. Strong integration of values and ethics."
"The 'action orientation' is not as obvious in the actual text of the book as it is in the end-of-chapter pedagogical sections. The advantage of this approach is that the instructors who wish to emphasize the action approach can utilize this material, and those who don't can ignore it"
