This text begins with an overview of the public relations process and introduces the interactive ROPE model (Research, Objectives, Programming, Evaluation) to organize PR programs. Part Two is organized around audience-centered forms of PR, while Part Three deals with emergency public relations. Chapters in Parts Two and Three begin with an overview and then exhibit Silver Anvil Award cases from planning through execution and evaluation, as well as some examples of failed PR campaigns. The appendices consist of exercises and case problems for each of the PR forms presented and contain the PRSA Code of Professional Standards.

"Probably the best-known case study approach is associated with Jerry A. Hendrix "
"The Hendrix book was chosen for its excellent collection of contemporary cases, its presentation of both practical and theoretical elements necessary for planning, its clarity in presenting steps in the PR process and its overall readability. I've looked at other case books but concluded that the Hendrix book is the best for my purposes."
"My main reason for choosing Hendrix is the cases that appear in the text. I like the categories of coverage and the specific cases included. I also find the format of the cases very easy to use as a basis for course discussion. I am currently very satisfied with the text..."
"I selected Public Relations Cases primarily for the variety of cases and topics it covers. I believe that variety--especially the number of cases--is its greatest virtue."
