Synopsis
Written like a little adventure story, this unique book in sepia tones goes back to 1735 and comes up to 2006. Along the way, it touches on buildings, places, people, businesses, technology, families and clearly establishes a lifestyle of sports and culture that started in the 18th century and is still going on today. And the Founding Families carved out a city they loved--but also wanted to keep going. Many of those families are still in town and were involved with the book. One of the fun parts is a Timeline with around 200 dates/events that is a constant surprise to even the most informed history buff and includes the history of the first tavern in 1761 and a ball player in the 20's who hit a homerun from Wahconah Park into the Housatonic River--and went on to be a famous Yankee. There are many pictures from archives not readily available as well as from family albums.
