Stephanie J. Hanrahan, PhD, is a senior lecturer in sport and exercise psychology at The University of Queensland in the department of human movement studies and the school of psychology, where she frequently interacts with coaches and athletes. Dr. Hanrahan is the 1997 recipient of The University of Queensland’s Excellence in Teaching Award. She has made nearly 200 presentations about games to coaches and athletes, and she is the coauthor of The Coaching Process: A Practical Guide to Improving Your Effectiveness.
Dr. Hanrahan earned her doctorate in sport psychology from the University of Western Australia in 1989. She was a professional ice skater and an international-level volleyball player who received a sports scholarship in volleyball. She also has been a volleyball coach and a swimming and skating instructor.
Teresa D. Carlson, EdD, is a lecturer in physical education at The University of Queensland. She also taught high school physical education for 10 years in Botswana, Australia, Pakistan, and the United States.
Dr. Carlson has led more than 50 workshops for coaches and physical educators. She has written a book chapter and produced a video for teacher educators on adventure-based learning. She has been a competitive swimmer for more than 20 years and has coached netball, basketball, and track and field. Dr. Carlson earned her doctorate in teacher education from the University of Massachusetts in 1994.
