Synopsis
Lindsey Michaels is twenty pounds overweight. When her attorney boyfriend, Kenny Kramer, sends her undercover to learn the real scoop on a new weight reduction program, she thinks "why not?" She's got nothing to lose, after all. Either she'll finally lose those extra pounds or she'll help Kenny bust apart a new scam operation on the citizens of Texas.
Hal Randall is in danger of losing his funding for F.R.A.T. and he's about ready to do anything to keep that from happening. So desperate that the minute he meets Lindsey Michaels, he knows there's no possible way he can keep his objectivity and quickly announces that he's married to his co-worker, Maria. A move that puts him on dangerous ground when Maria's girlfriend benchpresses small cars for enjoyment.
The stage is set and the romp begins in a contest of wills between Lindsey, who refuses to survive on her rabbit food diet, and Hal, who can't follow a simply train of thought every time he's faced with his voluptuously gorgeous patient. Why is Lindsey gaining weight instead of losing it? And will Hal ever lose his stutter when they're in the same room?

FAT CHANCE is an old-fashioned "screwball comedy: fast paced, quick repartee between the hero and heroine, often involving older main characters. Secondary characters are essential. The content is exaggerated to illustrate the woes of every female while trying to diet. Lindsey is our mouthpiece, and is allowed to say and do all the things women would want to but don't because of cultural mores. Those who will identify with Lindseys plight are those who have dieted multiple times and know the agony of defeat as flab is victorious over the rigorous self-control required, as well as the often bizarre demands of a diet regimen.
FAT CHANCE is meant to be a light romp through West Texas with a cast of characters "just a bubble off the plumb." It ends happily, as true romances should, with the hero and heroine realizing that their original goals are not the ones that will ultimately make them happy.
