David Lean was one of the greatest moviemakers of the twentieth century. He had an astonishing career that spanned six decades and included such diverse classics of the cinematic age as Brief Encounter, Great Expectations, Lawrence of Arabia, Bridge on the River Kwai, Dr Zhivago and A Passage to India. Here, Lady Lean has written a highly personal account of her late husband's life and work, combining the testimony of David's friends and colleagues with over 300 images, many of which are previously unpublished.
