A simple chart shows the disparity between the loss of life on board; readers may be surprised to learn that while 130 passengers traveling first class died, 536 perished in third class. One sidebar highlights the ship's captain, Edward J. Smith, and another describes other famous shipwrecks. The author also provides a lengthy further reading list and two chronologies detailing the Titanic's history and its maiden voyage.
