An informative introduction gives a current tour de horizon of U.S., USSR, British, and French naval power. The bulk of the hefty volume is a detailed compendium of all navies in the world. Personnel strength, weapon types, aircraft, and ship types and specifications are covered. From Albania (three subs and a few auxiliary ships) to Zimbabwe (two small lake patrol craft), the data are all here. A rival to the annual classic Jane's Fighting Ships , this is a detailed, accurate, worthwhile reference tool. An addendum makes it current to February 1988.
