Editor Boice has combined the spectacular color photographs of Peggy Bauer, Arlene Blum, and 32 other women photographers with the works of writers such as Rachel Carson, Isak Dinesen, and Alice Walker to produce a superb anthology celebrating Mother Earth through the perspective of women. The book is divided into five sections: mineral, plant, animal, human, and the realm of oneness where all elements meet. Among the 70 photographs revealing these realms are a polar bear joyfully leaping to an ice flow, a field of vivid purple lavender, a full moon over the frosty mountains of Nepal, and a lava flow glowing at night in Hawaii. Boice claims that "this book is meant to sharpen your vision, adjust the radar of your heart, and inspire you to look afresh at the world," and she has admirably achieved her goal. All libraries should acquire this powerful, unique work.
