From the Preface:
Librarians, scholars, and teachers of literature and reference sources in the humanities have depended upon A. Robert Rogers's The Humanities: A Selective Guide to Information Sources since its first edition in 1974. The untimely death of Dr. Rogers in 1985 has left a gap among the tools of reference librarianship and bibliography. This third edition grew out of the concerns of the authors, both of whom teach advanced level reference courses in graduate library schools, for an updated guide to humanities information resources.
