About the Author

An award-winning professional writer and an avid outdoor enthusiast, Ruth Rudner is the author of seven previous books, including four about mountain hiking. Ruth also has written numerous articles for such publications as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Walking Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Family Circle, and many others. She has worked as an associate editor and contributing editor for Skiing magazine and as a contributing editor for Self magazine.

A member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, Ruth has been a guest lecturer at many universities. She has been awarded a Writers Community Residency Grant to conduct master-level workshops for emerging writers in Billings, Montana. She also has been chosen by The Montana Arts Council to participate in the Tumbleweeds Literature Project for underserved communities.

Ruth attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio; the University of Vienna Summer School in Strobl, Austria; and the Alliance Française in Paris, France. She makes her home in Bozeman, Montana, and enjoys walking and hiking in the mountains, horseback riding, and writing about her outdoor experiences.
