Art Lee takes pride in being a fishing writer who really fishes. The work from his pen flows from his line as he fishes more than 200 days each year at home and abroad, where he has caught about every species of sport fish from bluegill to blue marlin. He has fished the most storied fresh and salt waters of the United States and Canada, South America, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Pacific.
Art is the only three-time winner of the Orvis Writing Awards for excellence in the fields of outdoor and conservation journalism. In his career, he has written hundreds of articles for a wide range of publications, including National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, Fly Rod & Reel, Wild Steelhead & Salmon, Sports Afield, Fishing World Magazine, and Gray’s Sporting Journal. He has published more words than any other writer for Fly Fisherman Magazine, which he has served since its earliest days, first as Northeast Field Editor, then as Contributing Editor, and now as Editor-at-Large. He is the first-ever Editor-at-Large of The Atlantic Salmon Journal, official publication of The Atlantic Salmon Federation. He’s also the Editor-at-Large of the west coast-based Wild Steelhead & Salmon Magazine.
Lee and his wife Kris live and work in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
