Synopsis
Scenes Along The Rails is the anchor title of a continuing series of books that will be devoted to the exploration of northeastern railroads during the first twenty-five years of this century. Period photographs--many appearing in print for the first time--feature stations, trackside industries, town views, and vacation resorts. The regional development of each rail line is summarized to provide historical background. The main text is composed of comprehensive, descriptive captions that personalize and add depth to the photographs. Detailed maps are included for quick reference.
Volume I consists of three parts. Part 1 focuses on the city of Scranton and the area to its north and east. The New York, Ontario & Western; Delaware, Lackawanna & Western; the Erie; and the Delaware & Hudson are among the eight railroads covered in an informative tour of the most splendid era of railroading.
