Review

The starting point for highly reliable student learning is reliable school-level implementation of instructional and organizational strategies that are supported by research. In High Reliability Schools, Robert Marzano brings a deep understanding of school work to show how complex this reliable implementation is. Then, step by step, he provides practical tools, examples, measures, and change strategies that will help any school become more reliable. Marzano followers will recognize many specific strategies from earlier books, and will find this book s systems-level view particularly useful. --TOM BELLAMY, Professor and Director, Goodlad Institute for Educational Renewal, University of Washington Bothell

Our children and publics deserve High Reliability Schools. Our schools are organizations of people and they are not free from failure. However, High Reliablity Schools are capable of eliminating or containing errors especially those that not only diminish or destroy futures but also diminish or destroy public trust and confidence. The Handbook . . . is exactly that, a handbook. Leaders serious about school reform and taking it to the next level can now use the indicators of high reliability and can now access the kind of data that inform their decisions and strategies. --DOUG CHRISTENSEN, Emeritus Commissioner of Education (Nebraska), Professor of Leadership in Education, Graduate Division, Doane College

This book is a gift to every educator and the children we serve. Read this today. Implement tomorrow. Simple, measurable, and sustainable change for every school. Finally a book that cuts the edubbable. An easy to follow system that effectively guarantees improvement for every school. The most exciting educational guide in years. A system that honors growth, acknowledges challenges, and provide a positive framework for improvement. Outstanding! --BARBARA-JANE PARIS, President, National Association Secondary School Principals
