Synopsis
A shady museum curator, a small Blue Ridge Mountain town, burglary, rumors, and murder . . .Lewis Wilder thinks he’s found an uncomplicated life when he takes the job as curator of the history museum in Nolichucky, Tennessee, a town snoozing in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He’s wrong in so many ways. While Wilder is getting to know his new neighbors, the Fox, a burglar with a sense of style, is getting acquainted with the neighbors’ portable antiques. Then, anonymous envelopes of cash start arriving at the museum. Coincidence? Complicating matters further are anonymous phone calls, a journalist asking too many questions, a lecherous guitar picker, a wealthy boor, the boor’s libidinous wife, and Wilder’s own tangled past. Wilder Rumors is a small town mystery with Southern Appalachian charm and humor. Lewis Wilder’s entanglements with rumors, burglary, and murder keep the inhabitants of Nolichucky entertained, as surely as they will the reader.

About the Author
Molly MacRae spent twenty years in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Upper East Tennessee, where she managed The Book Place, an independent bookstore; may it rest in peace. Before the lure of books hooked her, she was curator of the history museum in Jonesborough, Tennessee’s oldest town. Molly MacRae’s first mys- tery novel, Wilder Rumors, was published in 2007. Her stories have appeared in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine and she is a winner of the Sherwood Anderson Award for Short Fiction. These days, MacRae lives with her family in Champaign, Illinois, where she con- nects children with books at the public library.
