The following pages contain a report of the proceedings of a Conference which was summoned by me in pursuance of a Resolution passed at the London Diocesan Conference on May 16th 1900. The Resolution was "That this Conference request the President to appoint a Round Table Conference, consisting of members of the Church of England, on Ritual and the Doctrines involved therein, to name the members, and to fix the terms of reference." This resolution imposed a large responsibility upon me and required careful consideration of the questions to be referred and of the persons who should be invited to discuss them. My proceeding may best be explained by the two following letters: Fulham Palace, July 20, 1900. Dear, I was requested by a resolution of the London Diocesan Conference in May last to summon a Round Table Conference of members of the Church of England to confer on matters which are at present agitating the Church. I would invite you to take part in such a Conference. I propose that it should be held here on Oct. II, 12, 13 next. The subject which I would refer to it for discussion is:--"The doctrine of the Holy Communion and its expression in Ritual." I sincerely hope you may be able to attend. Yours very truly M.
