He exercised an extensive travelling ministry in the British Isles and North America. His final pastorate was at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, London. He wrote mane books, mostly expository studies. In this exposition Graham Scroggie reflects that "As the artist and the musician must study the masterpieces if he would know the power and possibilities of their arts, so the Christian must study prayer if he would be proficient in it".
