Excerpt from An Easy Introduction to the Study of Geography: Designed for the Instruction of Children
The work is divided into eighty-three Lessons, seventy-six of which are devoted to the illustration of Geography, and seven relate to Astronomy. A few of the first Lessons are arranged partly in the method of Question and Answer; and in these, where the Pupils are required to find the answers, the latter are numbered, to agree with each series of questions respectively.
In the first three-fourths of the book, the words of the answers are printed in Italic type; in the remainder, there is no such distinction, and the pupils are required to ascertain the requisite answers by their own discernment. It will thus be perceived that the plan of the Primary Geography is to lead the learner forward by easy and gradual steps, so as to prepare the youthful mind for an introduction into a more advanced study of this important science.
