This book reevaluates the problem of evil in the modern age. Central to this evaluation is a reexamination of the Book of Job—a foundational text for understanding how monotheism has grappled with evil throughout history. The author presents three friends visiting Job and engaging him in debate, each offering a different theodicy to explain evil. Job, however, is left unmoved, rejecting each theodicy as insufficient.
