In contrast, more expensive chemical applications proved ineffective and costly. The book also provides insights into the life history of various insects, including the Daddy Longlegs, Crane Flies, and Onion Maggot. The author provides a detailed account of his experiments on the effects of drought, immersion in water, nitrate of soda, and extreme cold on leather jacket grubs and other insects.
