Synopsis
This book presents a model for measuring the success of strategic planning systems. The author argues that traditional approaches to evaluating planning effectiveness have often been inadequate due to a lack of appropriate operationalizing schemes for measuring the success of planning systems. The author develops a two-dimensional conceptualization of planning system success that takes into account both the capabilities of the planning system and the extent to which those capabilities are used to achieve desired outcomes. The author then develops a set of measurement scales for each of these dimensions and provides empirical evidence for the validity and reliability of these scales.
