Synopsis
This book determines the rigidity of riveted joints which are commonly used in structural frames like those in steel skeleton buildings. The research team led by the author constructed and tested 6 different models to study how rigid the joints were in each type of connection. These models simulate the forces that would be present in these joints within a building frame. The study measured the connections' slip and rotation under load, and calculated the exact rigidity of each different type. This information is particularly valuable because it is nearly impossible to calculate these values due to the複雑な nature of the forces involved. The author presents a new analytical approach to calculating moments in a rectangular frame that considers the rigidity of the joints, which can be applied to real-world engineering applications.
