Synopsis
This book explains a strategy to screen multiple design factors in a single experiment to identify the most significant factors that impact a process or product. Screening for significant factors permits efficient and economic design of experiments. The engineering method presented here differs from traditional fractional factorial designs by permitting the estimation of main effects of design factors free from the influence of interactions. The method is explained for a broad range of design scenarios and includes examples to illustrate experimental designs. The author provides tables of experiments for ready use in experiments with up to 15 design factors and 15 environmental factors. The book concludes with a discussion of possible extensions of the method to detect curvature and cross interactions among design factors, opening up new possibilities for efficient optimisation of complex systems.
