Based on the 1979 International Year of the Child- the first global effort undertaken to heighten awareness of the special needs of children. Michigan State University's celebration focused attention of factors affecting the welfare of today's children as well as children of the future. The series reflects the activities held on the MSU campus and consists of original contributions from guest speakers & individuals representing a variety of fields. The editors desire that the material promote greater understanding of children, and encourage interdisciplinary inquiry into individual, family, social & cultural variables which influence their welfare and development.
