This book provides an introduction to industrial engineering and discusses the role of the industrial engineer. Its purpose is to lay out the broad scope of areas in which industrial engineers are engaged and to help new IE students understand the professional development pathways open to them and the direction in which to specialize. The book presents the major issues dealt with by industrial engineers, focusing on basic tools that require no in-depth knowledge of mathematics, statistics, psychology or sociology.
