In 2002 I was diagnosed with having Postpartum Depression after the birth of our second child. Throughout a span of 9 years I was diagnosed with everything from Postpartum Depression to Major Depressive Disorder. This mainly had to do with the fact that I only sought help when my depression was at it's lowest point. It wasn't until I was pregnant with our seventh child that I sought the help of our local Emergency Room. It was there that I was sent to a psychiatrist who after 2 hours of discussing the last 20 years of my life with my husband and therapist that the diagnosis was made that I had Bipolar Disorder. It took me a year to accept the fact that I indeed had this illness and it was time to reach out and help others who were experiencing the same things I was experiencing. I started a blog 3 years ago called Moorestorms Bipolar Parenting. Throughout the years that blog has gone through many transformations and is now Mothering Through Bipolar. I want to reach out to moms who are living with this illness and offer them comfort, encouragement and support. There is always hope and during our darkest times we forget that. I want to be there to help them through that time and offer them the support they need.
About the Author:
Rebecca Moore is a mom who has struggled with bipolar for most of her life. For 9 years she was wrongly diagnosed and treated for Major Depressive Disorder. It wasn't until 2011 while she was pregnant with her 7th baby that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Rebecca has made it her mission to reach out to other moms with bipolar and encourage them that there is always hope. Rebecca lives in Northeastern Pennsylvania with her husband and 6 of her children. On June 13, 2014 she launched Mothering Through Bipolar, Rebecca is a true advocate for moms with bipolar disorder. She is involved in her local hospital's Behavioral Health Initiative Program. She's also been nominated for Wego Health's Advocating For Another and Health Activist Award.
