Synopsis

The original radiobeacons which helped pilots find their way were directional but did not prevent pilots from drifting off course. Then, the author created a radiobeacon that not only provided direction but also corrected for crosswinds. This allowed the pilot to know their exact location at all times, even in dense fog. This innovation greatly increased safety and reliability for pilots and paved the way for the establishment of a fixed airway system.
