But that all changes when Lottie is beaten to death and the police decide Nicky killed her. As the pressure builds, Nicky's political dreams are seriously endangered. So are the women in his life. Even his own lawyer, lesbian Amazon Dana Dzikowski, can't keep her temper as Nicky slips deeper into trouble. The efficient storytelling and snappy dialogue shine before the obligatory plot twists set in. If you think the idea of a man running for an elected office while simultaneously running from the police trying to solve a murder sounds a little unbelievable, I'd agree with you. But I'm here to tell you it works! Dark Horse is a real page-turner, a lawyer-mystery-thriller that is Grisham-like in its execution, and a thoroughly enjoyable read.
