Read the Old Testament for the first time. Again. Experience it as an actual story for the first time. This unique book takes the reader inside the biblical narrative for a fresh encounter with God's Word. Often we read the Old Testament looking for how each event anticipates the Christ, which is a bit like reading a detective novel knowing "who done it" all along. Here, each succeeding episode is allowed to speak on its own terms only, building upon what has already happened just like any other story. Along the way it will be demonstrated how each part of the biblical narrative embodies the three covenantal promises that God made to Abraham: Land, Many Descendants, and a Blessing to All Nations. In so doing, the inherent narrative framework of the "old, old, story" is more fully exposed and the reader is rewarded with a new sense of its profound unity and divine inspiration.

George R. Eves is a semi-retired priest in the Anglican Church of Canada. He holds the ThM degree from Wycliffe College, University of Toronto and taught the Bible at Taylor College of Mission and Evangelism in Saint John, New Brunswick. He is the author of the self-published Two Religions, One Church: Division and Destiny in the Anglican Church of Canada. He is married with two daughters who now are blessing him with grandchildren.
''This overview of the Old Testament story is the first half of a narrative survey of the whole Bible, with its perspective focused by God's covenant with Abraham. Thoughtful Bible students will appreciate George Eves's well-informed, clear-flowing exposition.''
--J.I. Packer
''It was not that long ago that many were saying that the biblical theology movement was dead. If that was ever the case, then there has been a remarkable resurrection and resurgence of the movement in the last few years, to judge from the spate of recent studies. . . . George Eves' The Bosom of Abraham takes a legitimate place within this field, and promises to be a significant contribution.''
--Stephen G. Dempster, Professor of Religious Studies, Crandall University
''In this book we have a valuable resource for understanding the nature of the covenantal relationship between God and his Chosen People, the Jews. It also gives great insight into the links between the Old and New Testaments.''
--David Edwards, Bishop of Fredericton --Wipf and Stock Publishers
