About the Author:
The authors, The Four Pops, Daniel OBrien, Glenn Davis, Mark Smith, and Tom Stapleton have all taught in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District. They met through the school district and have known each other for over 35 years. The four authors all attended different state run universities. Today they get together to watch Monday night football, play some shuffle board, talk about sports and politics, and get in a game of golf. They attend some Notre Dame home games, East coast away games, and some of the Shamrock series games. They have plans to go to the Notre Dame vs. U. Mass for their first game this year. They are all currently retired, collaborating on writing their second childrens book, and also pursuing their own interests. Daniel OBrien received a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. He continued on with his studies receiving a Reading Specialist Certificate from Temple University and a Master of Education from Wilkes University. Danny taught children with Learning Disabilities for several years, was then appointed as the Instructional Support Teacher and the Dean of Students. He taught a Reading Methods class at Misericordia University for several semesters. He currently resides with his wife Jane, a retired Registered Nurse, in Mountaintop, PA. They have two sons and three beautiful grandchildren. Glenn Davis is a retired Reading Specialist. He received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. He continued on his education receiving a Reading Specialist Degree and Masters Degree in Education from Bloomsburg University. He taught Childrens Literature for ten years at Misericordia University. He currently, besides being part of the Four Pops writing group, is writing a young teens chapter book. Glenn, an amateur magician, lives with his wife Mary, a retired teacher, in Laflin, Pennylvania. Glenn and Mary have two children and one gorgeous granddaughter. Mark Smith, father of three and Pop to three, enjoys gardening and home remodeling. He received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and took graduate classes at Penn State and Marywood University. Besides teaching, Mark was a football coach and he coached several sports through the Districts intermural sports program. He has run several fund raisers for the school district, raising over $50,000 for charities for Disadvantaged Children. Mark lives in Plains, Pennsylvania with his wife Carol, a retired teacher and spends his leisure time cruising in his Mustang GT convertible. Mark and Carol are both involved with their church. Mark was president of the pastoral council and serves as a Eucharistic Minister at his church. Tom Stapleton earned a Bachelors Degree in Art Education. He did his graduate work at the University of Scranton. He was an adjunct professor at Luzerne County Community College, Misericordia University, Kings College, and East Stroudsburg University. He is an established artist. Landscapes is a favorite subject. Tom has exhibitions of his work in galleries in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He lived in Mountaintop, PA and currently lives in Bridgeville, Delaware with his wife Jackie, a retired caseworker. Together they have three children and one granddaughter.
