About the Author:
Monica McDivitt lives in Katy, Texas with her husband, John, and her daughter, Samantha. She was inspired to write this book when Samantha was in first grade after recognizing that Sams peers were both curious and fearful of her differences. Since then, Monica made it her mission to teach the world about Sam and her amazing ability to touch hearts and teach others to appreciate abilities, embrace differences, nurture hope, and never give up. Monica is the founder of Special Buddies, an elementary and middle school program in the Katy Independent School District which assists in promoting inclusion and friendship for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She also volunteers for many nonprofit organizations that assist children and adults with exceptional challenges.
