Synopsis
The Startup Club, written by award winning financial journalist JJ Ramberg, is a fun fiction book which will both engage your early reader with its story and teach them age appropriate lessons about finances and starting a business. Claire and Janey have their sights set on two things: a red leather AdventurePro backpack and new running shoes. To buy them, they need about $200. When the best friends realize they can earn money selling Claire's handmade lanyards, with the help of Claire's twin brother Noah, they launch a business: CJ Chainz. But will their friendship withstand the pressures that come with starting a company?

Kids are natural entrepreneurs. In the last week alone, I think I've stopped by four lemonade stands. But, when I went to the bookstore to find a fun fiction book that tapped into that interest, I couldn't find anything. As an entrepreneur myself, a journalist that has covered entrepreneurship for the past eleven years and the mom of three kids (7, 8 and 9), I couldn't believe this. There are countless studies that show that the earlier you teach your kids financial literacy the better. So, I partnered up with my sister and a friend who is an established children's author and we wrote the book we wanted our kids to read!. Our idea is that when your kids are done with this book, not only will they have loved the story, but they will also know that when you have a lemonade stand, you need to pay your parents back for the lemons in order to figure out your profit! - JJ Ramberg
About the Author
JJ Ramberg is an entrepreneur (co-founder of Goodshop), journalist (host of MSNBC s Your Business), and mom to three amazing lemonade stand creators. Melanie Staggs' startup experience is in the world of nonprofits. She still has one of the braided ribbons she sold as a kid that were the inspiration for CJ Chainz. S. Taylor loves writing all kinds of stories. When she was ten, she started a door-to-door chocolate chip cookie business that failed due to the high price of butter.
