Mehran Kamrava is director of the Center for International and Regional Studies at Georgetown University in Qatar. He specializes in comparative politics, political development, and Middle Eastern politics. He is the author of a number of journal articles and books, including, most recently, "The Modern Middle East: A Political History Since the First World War," now in its second edition, and Iran's Intellectual Revolution. He is the editor of "The New Voices of Islam: Rethinking Politics and Modernity," and with Manochehr Dorraj, he is the editor of "Iran Today: An Encyclopedia of Life in the Islamic Republic."
