As stated in the Foreword by Meherwan Jessawala: This book plumbs the depths of esoteric truths never before revealed to humankind. The book's theme is an ageless one, ever old and ever new: God as Infinite Intelligence. Down the centuries, philosophers of diverse stripes and backgrounds have trained their sights on this target. But the profundity and originality of the treatment here attests to a point of view that is rooted not in convention and intellectual tradition but in the Reality, and to an Authority which goes beyond what the limited human mind is capable of. The material for this book comes from previously unpublished manuscripts dating back to 1926 and was first discovered shortly after Meher Baba dropped his physical form in 1969. It is only now being released after a long and meticulous editing process detailed in an academically rigorous supplemental essay.

Merwan Sheriar Irani, known as Meher Baba, was born in Pune, India on 25 February 1894. Leading a normal childhood, at the age of nineteen He encountered Hazrat Babajan, an ancient Muslim woman who was one of the five Sadgurus or Perfect Masters of the age. With a kiss on the forehead, Babajan gave Merwan God-realization or the Knowledge of Self. Over the next seven years the Hindu Sadguru, Upasni Maharaj, helped bring Merwan back to consciousness of the world, thus establishing Him in spiritual Perfection. His spiritual mission began in 1921 with the drawing together and intensive training of His first close disciples. One of these gave Him the name Meher Baba, which means Compassionate Father. In the mid-1920s Meher Baba founded Meherabad, an ashram near the small city of Ahmednagar. On 10 July 1925 He began keeping silence, which He maintained throughout the remaining 44 years of His life. It was probably during the first year of His silence that Meher Baba gave out the body of explanations comprising the substance of Infinite Intelligence. Between 1931 and 1958 Meher Baba traveled to the West thirteen times. He also traveled extensively throughout the Indian subcontinent, often to contact masts advanced pilgrims on the spiritual path who have become spiritually intoxicated from direct awareness of God. Meher Baba suffered severe injuries in two car accidents, in 1952 in America and in India in 1956. It was during this period that He first declared Himself publicly to be the Avatar or Christ of the age. Over the last twelve years of His life He withdrew increasingly into seculsion at His residence in Meherazad, engaged in the fulfillment of what He called His Universal Work. Meher Baba passed away on 31 January 1969. His tomb at Meherabad is a place of pilgrimage for thousands of people around the world who have been touched by His love and message of truth. Meher Baba declares that He is the same Ancient One who, having descended previously as Zoroaster, Ram, Krishna, Buddha, Christ, and Muhammad, has now come again to awaken humanity from its slumber of ignorance and to bring about within each person the realization of his true Self, which is God.
