Youngerman began his career at Paramount Studios in 1926, working as a prop man and an assistant director on several films, including "Beau Geste" (1939), "The Great Man's Lady" (1942), and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" (1943). In 1964 he was awarded as an Honorary Life Member of the Directors Guild, an organization he helped build, beginning in 1950, when he became Executive Secretary. His recollections are collected here, based on interviews with Skutch and Shepard. Black-and-white photographs throughout.
