Synopsis

In this volume the important concept of switched and impulsive control is discussed, with a wide field of applications in the analysis and control of complex systems. This monograph provides the reader with a comprehensive coverage of switched and impulsive systems, including new original work with various applications such as switched server systems, scalable video coding systems, chaotic based secure communication, or quality of service on the internet. Switched and Impulsive Systems can be used as a reference or a text for a course at graduate level.

About this title

Review

From the reviews:

"The book was clearly written with a control engineering audience in mind, and the level of mathematical rigor is adapted to that. ... Additional advantages of the book lie in the uniformity of treatment of these contributions, the amount of examples, and the unexpected areas that these examples come from." (Stefan Ratscham, Mathematical Reviews, Issue 2004 k)

"This text is an introduction to hybrid systems, their stability and stabilization, and a presentation of various applications. ... There are 218 references, and an index ... . The book is of interest as a study on stability issues for hybrid systems and for original applications." (A. Akutowicz, Zentralblatt MATH, Vol. 1060, 2005)
