Existen un sin número de enfermedades cardiovasculares que requieren para su manejo el uso crónico de agentes anticoagulantes, por lo cual su uso es cada vez más común en la práctica clínica. Entre todos estos fármacos anticoagulantes el más usado a nivel mundial es la Warfarina y su presentación comercial (Coumadin®). Estos agentes poseen un estrecho margen terapéutico, lo cual incrementa el riesgo de complicaciones y dificultades en el manejo de estos pacientes. Hemos observado en la práctica clínica que los pacientes manejados con Warfarina genérica presentan mas complicaciones clínicas y dificultades en el manejo de los valores de INR a diferencia de aquellos pacientes que han sido anticoagulados con Coumadin®.
