This study was conducted to examine the impact of the students' formative and summative assessment on the professional development of Iranian EFL Instructors at universities. Moreover, an attempt was made to figure out whether the formative assessment is more effective than the summative assessment. The present study is qualitative/quantitative in nature and was conducted within the ethnography of Islamic Azad University South Tehran Branch.

Naser Janani is a bilingual teacher (English-Russian), published translator, simultaneous interpreter, T.T.C instructor, and co-author of a book and a flashcard, has a B.A. in English translation from IAU Central Tehran Branch and M.A. in TEFL from IAU South Tehran Branch. He is interested in interdisciplinary topics of research.
