El trasplante de órganos, como alternativa terapéutica de sustitución de un órgano que ha perdido su función, constituye sin duda uno de los avances científicos médicos más importante del siglo XX. En este libro se hace una revisión de la inmunodepresión farmacológica, del riesgo de malignidad, de infecciones, del embarazo y riesgo de teratogenicidad en pacientes receptores de trasplante de órganos, así como del trasplante de órganos en ginecología clínica y experimental. Se describe el trabajo experimental de alotrasplante tubo-ovárico ortotópico como “unidad anatomo-funcional” en la coneja, empleando una técnica de microcirugía vascular con el objetivo de evaluar la función endocrina y reproductiva, que podría tener aplicación clínica en mujeres con infertilidad causada por el daño tubario bilateral irreversible, disgenesia gonadal, ausencia quirúrgica de ovarios y/o salpinges o como alternativa terapéutica en pacientes que se someten al tratamiento de FIV-TE convencional y no han tenido éxito.
