Jaime Sabines (Tuxtla Guti�rrez,1926-M�xico, D.F., 1999) es uno de los poetas mexicanos m�s importantes del siglo XX. Poeta imprescindible para miles de lectores en todos los pa�ses de lengua hispana, a lo largo de su vida fue distinguido con varios reconocimientos: Premio Chiapas 1959 –otorgado por el Ateneo de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas–, Premio Xavier Villaurrutia 1973, Premio El�as Sourasky 1982, Premio Nacional de Literatura 1983, Premio Juchim�n de Plata 1986, Presea de la Ciudad de M�xico 1991, Medalla Belisario Dom�nguez 1994 y el Premio Mazatl�n de Literatura 1996, entre otros. El car�cter coloquial y comprometido de su poes�a, as� como su conmovedora claridad, lo convirtieron en uno de los poetas m�s reconocidos y admirados de M�xico.
