About the Author:
Fernando Vallejo nació en Medellín, Colombia. Estudió filosofía y letras en universidades de Bogotá y dirección de cine en el Centro Experimental de Cinematografía de Roma. Ha vivido gran parte de su vida en México, donde ha dirigido tres películas y escrito la totalidad de sus libros, algunos de los cuales han sido traducidos a múltiples idiomas. El gran amor de su vida son los animales, y su única causa es su defensa. Es autor de El río del tiempo (1999), pentalogía compuesta por Los días azules (1985), El fuego secreto (1987), Los caminos a Roma (1988), Años de indulgencia (1989), y Entre fantasmas (Alfaguara, 1993), además de las novelas La Virgen de los sicarios (Alfaguara, 1994), El desbarrancadero (Alfaguara, 2001, Premio Rómulo Gallegos 2003), La rambla paralela (Alfaguara, 2002), Mi hermano el Alcalde (Alfaguara, 2004), El don de la vida (Alfaguara, 2010), Casablanca la bella (Alfaguara, 2013) y ¡Llegaron! (Alfaguara, 2015). También ha escrito biografías y los ensayos La tautología darwinista y otros ensayos (Taurus, 2002), Manualito de imposturología física (Taurus, 2005) y La puta de Babilonia (2007). Sus columnas periodísticas, discursos y conferencias están recopilados en Perorata (Alfaguara, 2013).
