Dr. Clare B. Jones responded to educators' and parents' desperate need for information about attention deficits by writing the original edition of Sourcebook in 1991. Today it remains the only text totally dedicated to attention disorders in early childhood. Now Dr. Jones has updated and expanded the information in the original Sourcebook. This revised edition includes handouts and take-home sheets for Spanish-speaking parents. Additionally, it has retained all the original activities for the classroom because, like all good teaching strategies, they are timeless. In this book, Dr. Jones also discusses:
*
Current research, treatments, and solutions
*
The American Psychiatric Association's most recent criteria for diagnosing ADD
*
Attention deficit inattentive type as compared with hyperactive/impulsive type
*
Updated lists of tools and observations for assessing ADD
*
Specific contributions of various members of the multidisciplinary team-parents, physicians, school nurses, special education and regular classroom teachers, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and others
*
Suggestions for setting up and maintaining appropriate environments for children with ADD
*
Intervention, management, and behavioral strategies to use in the classroom
*
Information to share with parents on understanding and coping with their child at home
*
How to tap into these children's interest in computers and select software that will enrich their learning experiences
*
Extensive research and reading lists for professionals and parents
