About the Author

Miriam Plotinsky is an instructional specialist with Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, where she has taught and led for twenty-five years, and is also the author of several education books. Her areas of expertise include student-centered learning, cross-content literacy, and school improvement. She is widely recognized for providing practical, immediately applicable professional learning for teachers and school administrators.
Miriam contributes to publications such as Education Week, Edutopia, KQED/MindShift, ASCD, Middleweb, and Education World. She is also a regular guest on international education podcasts and a frequent speaker at professional conferences.
As an author, Miriam has published several influential books, including Teach More, Hover Less: How to Stop Micromanaging Your Secondary Classroom; Lead Like a Teacher: How to Elevate Expertise in Your School; Writing Their Future Selves: Instructional Strategies to Affirm Student Identity; and Small but Mighty: How Everyday Habits Add Up to More Manageable and Confident Teaching.
