4to. 10.5 x 8 inches. 447 pp. Bound in original maroon cloth, gilt, with gilt block on spine, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper, with publisher's list on rear wrapper. Light spotting of top edge, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by distribution maps and by line drawing text figures. Decorated by title page vignette. A companion to The Atlas of Breeding Birds in Britain and Ireland, mapping 200 species, based on surveys organised by the Trust and the Conservancy in the winters of 1981/2, 1982/3 and 1983/4, with accompanying text. With introductory chapters by Peter Lack ATLAS BIRDS BIRDS ATLAS 20TH CENTURY ILLUSTRATED ATLAS.
