Three volumes quarto (26 x 20cm). The abridgement by G.-A. de Rohan-Chabot from the 6 volume edition of 1727-30. Vol. I, pp. [4],x,[2],xlviii,421,[3], 51 folding plates; Vol.II, pp. [4],x,477,[3], 22 folding plates; Vol. III, pp. [4],viii,384,[6], 40 folding plates. Some occasional staining, some plates slighty proud, but a sound set bound in contemporary English calf with contrasting twin labels, gilt, head of spines worn, slight cracking to the leading joint of the first volume, but all quite tight, the boards scuffed. Some contemporary doodles on the endpapers and also neat 18th & 19th C. ownership inscriptions plus the 19th C. engraved armorial bookplate of William Edward Armstrong, New Hall.
