[Recorded music] Long-playing record. 1966 pressing, with matrices ending -6A/-4B, issued in Mono 'ffrr' (Full Frequency Range Recording), red labels with 'deep groove' pressing ring, UNBOXED Decca company logo, printed in silver, in front-laminated sleeve with photographic cover. Sleeve is excellent with some moderate age-toning to rear, with one or two minor half moon creases to glossy laminate. Neat ink note when purchased, to rear cover and liner. Record has been lightly used only and shows very careful handling with just a few light marks, one fingernail scuff to side one. Play tested using a lightweight pickup, this runs through superbly well with trivial background noise. An excellent copy, housed in the correct poly-lined Decca inner sleeve (often missing). The first fully self-penned Rolling Stones LP, this classic album moved the band right alongside the Beatles with a wealth of creativity and intricate sound patterns through their increased use of exotic instuments and percussion; it was founder member Brian Jones high point, with the gifted musician not only playing lead, rhythm ans slide guitar, but also sitar, marimbas, dulcimer, recorder, saxophone, harpsichord, harmonica, organ and mellotron. The result was a sublime selection including 'Lady Jane', Mother's Little Helper', 'Under My Thumb', and 'Out of Time'. It put the Stones back at the top, for nine weeks, in the Summer of '66. Despite so many copies being sold, very few have survived in good shape given the nature of the audience and the quality of record players and portables that were used! Decent copies such as this are now uncommon. A similarly titled LP was released in America, but with an alternate (inferior) track listing and different cover photo.
