Two cloth-bound volumes in a matching slipcase; third edition, completely revised with the assistance of Reinhold Regensburger. Both volumes, original oatmeal cloth with gilt lettering and rules within red labels to the spine, pale green endpapers, pale yellow top edges. Quarto, 255 x 190 mm; pp. Volume 1, xxii, 474 and Volume 2, [6] 452 [2, blank]. Volume 2 is the 'illustration volume' and has glossy paper. Some copies of these volumes had dust jackets and a printed label on the spine of the slipcase; these copies have neither, but the lack of a label on the slipcase suggests that this may have been intentional. Both volumes and the slipcase are in Very Good condition. First published by Hutchinson & Co.(Publishers) Ltd in April 1948. The second edition (revised) was published in April 1949 with reprints in January and October 1953.

standard delivery charge in the United Kingdom
We offer a standard delivery charge and insurance to all mainland UK addresses of £4.00 unless the weight of the parcel exceeds 2kg, when the charge will be the actual cost.
Delivery charges outside the United Kingdom
The charge for packing, insurance and delivery of a single book outside the UK is as follows:
To destinations in Europe: £15 plus £2 for each extra item up to a total weight of 2kg. Heavier items are charged at cost.
To destinations in North America and To destinations in the Rest of World: £25 plus £2 forveach extra item up to a total weight of 2kg. Heavier items are charged at cost.
Delivery methods and periods
We will usually use Royal Mail / Parcel Force or a courier.
We will dispatch books within 48 hours of cleared payment, with the expectation that, they will be delivered (a) within the UK no later than 48 hours thereafter
(b) overseas, as soon as possible having regard to local postal/courier services.
