About the Author: Kevin Saundeers was born and raised on a farm in the Heartland of America. A 1981 grain elevator explosion in Corpus Christi, Texas, hurled Kevin over 300 feet onto a parking lot, paralyzing him from the chest down. Doctors said he would not survive, but he did. He not only recovered, but also became a Paralympic champion. Kevin Saunders was the first person with a disability to serve on the Presidents Council on Physical Fitness. He was appointed by President George Bush and the only person to be reappointed by the Clinton Administration.
